If you head out to community lots, you may even see AI-controlled Sims participating in the holiday's traditions too! Holidays apply to the entire save file, including Sims in other neighborhoods. Sims who don't may draw debuffs for not participating. Sims who perform traditions they like on the holiday, especially any favored tradition, will draw a moodlet buff and be in a fantastic mood. When it turns solid, the Sim is done with that tradition, although they can keep doing it if you wish to give the command.
